Walton & Company has had the privilege to donate to Junior Achievement of South Central PA (JA) through the Education Improvement Tax Credit for the past two decades.  JA programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action and learn the value of contributing to their communities.  Read on to learn exactly how JA puts their funds to use.

JA’s YES! Program

JA uses the funds they receive from Walton & Company to help run a truly priceless program called YES! (Your Economic Success). This program provides students the opportunity to explore career options and discuss financial responsibility. JA connects a student’s success in school with their future economic success.

This program is targeted toward middle schoolers. It involves activities intended to help students gain an appreciation for the importance of good career and financial decisions.  Community volunteers share their education and work experience with the students and help make this program run smoothly.

JA provides this program to schools for free and asks that the school involves all students in grades seven and eight. The school is asked to do some work in preparation for the YES! program and to accommodate the exciting finale where questions are asked and prizes are given. Students walk away from JA’s YES! program with an abundance of information they can use as they grow into adulthood and they have fun while doing it.
