At Walton & Company, we believe in giving back to the community in meaningful ways. Our HR duo, Kristy and Cindy recently had the privilege of serving as PA District 5 Judges at York College for the District Competition, where they were part of a dynamic group that truly embodied what it means to be a community leader.
Volunteering doesn’t have to be boring, and this event was a prime example of that. The team was honored to work alongside an incredible group of professionals, all of whom share a commitment to shaping future leaders. In addition to our HR duo, the panel included Lorna Sager, Department Chair for Business Education at Eastern York High School; Patrick Rehmeyer, Assistant Manager at Men’s Warehouse; Fred Becker, Hospitality Management Program Director at York College; and Andrew Raimondo, Store Director at Weis. The HR Duo even took a quick snapshot with Stephanie Bausman, partner at Tandem Marketing & Design, a supporter of DECA, and a Judge for the last 2 years.
Each member brought a unique perspective to the table, helping to create a rich and engaging experience for the students involved. DECA, the organization behind this event, is all about empowering high schoolers to explore careers in business and develop leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. As District 5 Judges, we were thrilled to be part of this journey, offering guidance and feedback to students who are eager to shape their futures in the world of business.
We are also excited to share that PA DECA has reached a record-breaking 7,768 members this year! This milestone is a testament to the dedication and support of events across Pennsylvania, and we couldn’t be prouder to be part of this growth. It’s all thanks to the hard work of volunteers who help students thrive.
Looking ahead, PA DECA has announced the upcoming State Career Development Conference. PA DECA is seeking about 200 judges to join the effort.
