Sheet Metal Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Estimator who will be responsible for all phases of the estimating and bidding process which includes pre-construction services and performing estimate takeoffs. A thorough knowledge of the mechanical construction bidding processes, that includes specific expertise with commercial and institutional duct work systems (including black iron and stainless exhaust duct) is required.

Responsibilities:

Evaluate all project specifications and scope to execute an accurate estimate.

Using all available information, specifications, scope, narrative and drawings, take complete responsibility for generating take-offs.

Evaluate and solicit guidance, on rigging, constructability, manpower, supervision levels, equipment, systems, etc., pulling the entire estimate together for final review and submittal.

Consult with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.

Resolve conflicts, clarify bids, develop necessary RFI’s as needed.

Perform pre-bid walkthroughs, turnover meetings, job site visits, and closeout meetings.

Requirements:

HS Diploma/GED.  Technical degree or graduate of an Apprentice program is preferred.

Minimum 3 years of construction estimating experience required.

Minimum 3 years of sheet metal and/or piping estimating experience required.

Must possess a personal robust technical orientation. Experience utilizing sheet metal take-off software is preferred.  Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel will be helpful.  Must be able to utilize different software and perform on screen take-offs.

Able to work in a fast paced, time pressured, structured office environment.

Must possess great communication skills, a strong work ethic, and an overall positive attitude to “get the job done”.
