#OurRipple: Shaping Futures Through Apprenticeships at Walton & Company

At Walton & Company, we believe in the transformative power of education and hands-on experience. Our commitment to fostering the next generation of skilled professionals is encapsulated in our initiative, #OurRipple. This program underscores our dedication to providing comprehensive apprenticeship opportunities across various departments, including Building Services (HVAC), Plumbing, and Sheet Metal.

Eligibility Guidelines for Enrollment in Apprenticeship Program:

  • Walton’s policy is to consider only current employees for enrollment in any of the Company’s Apprenticeship Programs. The Company does not recruit specifically for Apprentices.
  • To be considered, employees must have at least three months of service before starting a school year.
  • Apprentices must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or a G.E.D.
  • Currently, there is no formal testing used in the selection procedure.
  • When considering applicants, the Company will assess:
  • Employee’s attendance record
  • Employee’s reliability
  • Employee’s attitude on the job
  • Employee’s initiative on the job
  • Walton is an Equal Opportunity Employer dedicated to a policy of non-discrimination in hiring and employment practices. The company follows the same guidelines in considering apprentices, including employees over the age of 40.

 Investing in Future Talent

Our apprenticeships are more than just training programs—they are pathways to rewarding careers. We collaborate with esteemed institutions such as York County School of Technology, Thaddeus Stevens School of Technology, and York Technical Institute. Additionally, we welcome students straight out of high school to join our ranks and embark on a journey of professional growth and development.

A Legacy of Excellence

Recently, we celebrated a significant milestone with the graduation of Hunter Sterner and Zach Martin from ABC Keystone. These exemplary individuals completed their HVAC apprenticeships, which required an impressive four years of rigorous schooling coupled with 8,000 hours of on-the-job training. Their achievements are a testament to the effectiveness of our apprenticeship model and the dedication of our mentors and trainers.

The Impact of #OurRipple

#OurRipple represents the far-reaching impact of our apprenticeship programs. Each enrolled employee at Walton & Company gains valuable skills and experience but also contributes to the ripple effect of positive change within our community and industry. By nurturing talent and fostering professional growth, we create a sustainable future for our company and the trades we support.

Building a Skilled Workforce

In an ever-evolving industry, the demand for highly skilled professionals is paramount. Our apprenticeships equip students with the practical knowledge and technical expertise needed to excel in their respective fields.
