After an incredible career spanning nearly five decades, Scott is officially retiring from his role as a plumbing foreman at Walton & Company. With 48 years in the industry—and 25 of them at Walton—Scott reflects fondly on his time, describing Walton as the best of the five companies he’s worked for.
When asked what he loved most about his job, Scott shared that it wasn’t just plumbing that kept him engaged. “Learning other things in the industry besides plumbing has been my favorite part,” he said. This curiosity and eagerness to grow contributed to his long and fulfilling career.
Scott credits Walton’s positive environment for his longevity. “Everyone here does a great job,” he said. “Surrounding yourself with people who do good work keeps you going. It’s a happy place to work.”
While Scott looks forward to retirement, he won’t miss the fast-paced nature of the job. “The timeframe to do stuff—everyone wants it now, now, now. Hurry up and get it done,” he chuckled.
So, what’s next for Scott? He’s diving into his lifelong passion: woodworking. Since the late 70s, Scott has created a wide range of handcrafted pieces, including cabinetry, tables, chairs, grandfather clocks, and high chairs. He also enjoys turning bowls, cutting boards, and custom charcuterie boards on the lathe, along with ice cream scoops that make perfect Christmas gifts. He will also be traveling with his loving wife Beth of 47 years.
We wish Scott all the best as he starts this new chapter in his woodshop, and traveling, doing what he loves most. Thank you for 25 years of dedication to Walton & Company! Enjoy every moment of your well-earned retirement. Here are several photos of Scott and the guys he worked with, enjoy your retirement, Scott!
